Farm & Estate Insurance

Outside the main conurbations, the UK is still a very rural landscape characterised by landholdings large and small which are put to an increasingly wide range of uses.
Farms and Estates require specialist insurance skills. From our well placed offices around the country we have an expert resource that is able to provide excellent advice as well as competitive premiums and a very attentive service. We insure farms and estates with a diverse range of commercial assets and activities and look to build long term relationships with owners and their agents by taking the time to fully understand their requirements. Whether it’s a 250 acre dairy farm or a 25,000 acre estate, we have the years of valuable experience and deep rooted farming knowledge which enables us to add value over and above the insurance small print and to play our part in ensuring that our clients’ insurance affairs are managed simply and effectively.

Houses and farm buildings

Houses and farm buildings

Farm & Estate

Farms and Estates invariably involve a wide range of different buildings, some ancient some modern; some occupied, some empty. Whether it be a mansion house or a grain store; a tenanted cottage or a farm shop we have access to the markets needed to insure them effectively and an expert understanding of the cover required. We produce easily understood documentation and schedules that assist in the efficient management of the properties.

Motor

Large fleets are commonplace and often require a lot of administration during the year. At Weatherbys Hamilton these remain the responsibility of the same person who manages the rest of your insurances, which means that you only have the one port of call for adjustments or claims that need to be reported. We know that delays cost money and we provide a highly responsive claims service that helps to get vehicles replaced or back in action as soon as possible.

Liability

Liability

Farm & Estate

Employers and Public Liability is obviously essential for any enterprise that has employees or gives the public access through house and garden openings or commercial ventures such as weddings, concerts etc. It is obviously critical that all activities are correctly covered. Estates that sell produce or artefacts to the public will need Product Liability and Environmental Liability for landowners is cover that is important, readily available but often overlooked.

Renewable Energy

Renewable Energy

Farm & Estate

The landscape of the UK is increasingly conspicuous for its solar parks and wind farms. Bio-mass plants and hydro schemes are now commonplace on many farms and estates. Pressure on the environment and the commercial advantages are only likely to encourage more and more of these renewable enterprises  in the future. The installations themselves and their income streams require specialist insurance and we are able to provide the best advice and solutions for our clients.

Shoot Cancellation

Shoot Cancellation

Farm & Estate

Private shoots are notoriously expensive to put on and the income derived from letting the odd day commercially is often an important factor in justifying the expense. Alternatively a fully fledged commercial shoot can be an important income stream in its own right. Whatever the circumstances, protecting income against cancellation or disruption because the weather renders a shoot unsafe or impossible on the day, is an important consideration.

Trustee indemnity

Trustee indemnity

Farm & Estate

Many trustees give their time for free and are often family friends. However, their responsibility in law to the beneficiaries of a settlement or trust is very real and does give them personal liability if it can be demonstrated that there has been a breach of trust. There is obviously particular scope for argument where assets are diverse and beneficiaries are extensive or remote. It is strongly recommended that trustees protect themselves personally and the cost of the insurance is modest and easily arranged.
